Another whole month of this awful genocide going on, and ignorant people and the brainwashing Western governments still insist on calling it a war. A war would imply both sides have an army. Gaza does not have an army!! Babies who have literally just come out of the womb are not terrorists!!! STOP KILLING CHILDREN YOU MONSTERS!!!!! I refuse to go back to posting like normal until this genocide is stopped, NOTHING is normal about this!

For the first time ever, I drop the monthly journal early! ('Cause I'm procrastinating from work, oops)

Movies:

  • The Road to El Dorado - Can't remember the last time I watched this one. It was good background noise while I worked.

  • The Dead Poet's Society - I've seen this movie several times before but I don't know why this time the ending really got to me and I cried. ;_; One of the most powerful movie endings.

  • Panic Room - Why did I watch this again.

  • Baby Driver - Okay here's a movie I actually HAVEN'T seen before, and I really liked it! I want to meet a Baby of my own...

  • Fargo - I don't know what I was supposed to walk away with by the end of this movie, but it was something.

  • The Grand Budapest Hotel - It took me halfway through the movie to recognize the filming style being similar to Fantastic Mr. Fox and finding out that they're both by Wes Anderson. So I guess all his movies are like this? If so I know what to search for the next time I'm bored and want something entertaining to watch haha.

TV Shows:

  • The One Piece live action Netflix series - I haven't been able to write down my thoughts about it yet but suffice it to say that I had SO much fun with this show and I can't wait to see what they do with season 2!

  • Ninjago season 6 - God this season is so good. And am I going to continue and watch season 7 now? Yes, yes I am.

  • The Ghost and Molly McGhee - Watched the first few episodes of season 2. I like the new direction the story's taking, and the show has definitely gotten funnier. Even the songs are better than they were before.

Anime: The summer season is finally over, and the fall season looks to be more packed than I'd thought. Looking forward to it!

  • Niehime to Kemono no Ou

  • Horimiya: Piece

  • My Happy Marriage

  • Zom100 - Still haven't finished this one because it's been delayed several times.

  • Link Click season 2 - Sad to say... this season was pretty disappointing. Hopefully season 3 will be better.

Manga:

  • Seraph of the End - I've practically read, or skimmed, through this entire manga in completely random order, and looking at it overall it's writing is pretty terrible. But I'm still gonna follow it just because I'm curious about where the story is currently at, and despite hating Yu I still love his and Mika's relationship.

  • Undead Unluck - Man, unlike Seraph of the End, I am thoroughly enjoying the plot, characters, mystery and power system of this manga. Unfortunately, like Seraph of the End, it also has some big themes and a main goal that I personally don't feel comfortable with or agree with at all. I'm hoping that unlike the main characters of Seraph, the main characters of this manga might actually learn the RIGHT lesson here, but it doesn't seem like the author's going to take that direction.

Books:

  • Starsight by Brandon Sanderson - Finished. Nowhere near as good as the first book.

  • There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom by Louis Sachar - Lovely, actually made me cry. The Wild Robot by Peter Brown - Didn't get to finish it before I had to return it, but I was really enjoying it! (When I could actually find the time to sit down and read it...)

  • How to Be Remembered by Michael Thompson

  • Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer - Buddy-reading this. So far it's very meh.

Games: None

Art:

Managed to squeeze this in one weekend.

Reunion with Zane

Great characters:

  • Lante from Niehime - Cute hyena boy. Nuff said.

  • Sanji from the live action One Piece - Oh my gooooosh out of all the Straw Hats he was the best adapted! I always loved Sanji but they actually made this adaptation of him even BETTER by making him so CHARMING! Helps of course that the actor is also really cute. And that accent~

  • Andy from Undead Unluck - Wow, a shounen protagonist who's not just all muscle but actually uses his brain? Who initially seems like a sleazebag but is actually very respectful and protective of his partner? I don't often use this word but this is what you call a straight up CHAD.

Other stuff:

Back to school. Back to the grind. I hadn't realized how blessed I was with my classes last year because I genuinely liked all three of them, but this year my 6th graders aren't really making me very comfortable. It's slowly been getting better though as I'm starting to connect with them more, hopefully it'll continue in that trajectory.

Goodbye summer vacation... :(

Movies:

  • Across the Spider-verse - Watched it again with my sisters. It was even better the second time.

  • Ladybug and Cat Noir

  • Cheaters - Really good movie, I wonder why it feels like no one's heard of it?

  • Elemental

  • Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - This was recommended to me by a friend like two years ago, took the chance to watch it while the rest of my family was out. It was entertaining, but I didn't much like the ending.

  • Spider-Man Homecoming

  • Spider-Man Far From Home

  • Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

  • Three Men and a Baby

  • Three Men and a Little Lady

TV Shows:

  • Ninjago season 5

  • Miraculous Ladybug season 5

  • Sweet Tooth season 2 - I'm just glad Abbott's finally dead, ugh I hated this character, he was just too goofy.

Anime:

  • Horimiya: Piece - Forgot how funny this show was.

  • My Happy Marriage - It was my most anticipated new show of the season at first, but now it feels like it's not doing enough.

  • Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead - Could do without the ecchi humor, but it's alright so far.

  • Link Click season 2 - I'm a little disappointed by this season so far if we're being honest. It feels like they're trying to stretch it out as much as possible without progressing the plot or giving us any answers.

  • Aggretsuko season 5

Manga:

  • Seraph of the End - I read a small portion from where the anime left off, and skimmed some chapters ahead. And yeah, even though I enjoy some of the characters (mostly Mika, and Guren and Ferid) the subject matter is not for me. It's a shame because I really love this author's art, and I think I would have enjoyed this story if it had been about something else, but... nah.

  • ID: Invaded Brake-Broken - And now I'm upset all over again that there isn't more ID: Invaded content. :cries:

Books:

  • Bridge of Birds by Howard Hughes - I really only brought this with me on my flight to New York because it was the lightest book I own. I haven't finished it yet, and I haven't really been into what I've read so far.

  • Skyward by Brandon Sanderson - Surprisingly very enjoyable!

  • Night Terrors by Ali Sparkes

  • Starsight by Brandon Sanderson - Man what a step down from the previous book. Several steps in fact.

  • Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time

  • Night Forever by Ali Sparkes

Games:

  • Oxenfree - My sister played the Firestarter route (that was fun XD) and was shooting for the achievement where you don't say anything the entire run, but unfortunately in the end we didn't get it for some reason.

  • Worms Armageddon

Art:

Jigsawed
Great Detectives
Ninjago LMK redraw
Last Stand
Never trust a snake

Great Characters:

  • Morro from Ninjago - Bro I think the voice acting on this guy is what makes this character so memorable more than anything, his mannerisms are so funny! XD

  • Alex from Oxenfree - Firestarter Alex was just fascinating ahaha, it's amazing how much of a different character you can make her when you choose all the worst options.

  • Luka from Miraculous Ladybug - Look, it's Luka. He's just perfect ok.

  • Mika and Ferid from Seraph of the End - Ferid is so hilariously unhinged ahaha! And idk I love how emo and angry Mika is, it makes a nice change from Yu's typical shounen optimistic air-headed attitude.

  • Wade from Elemental - I thought I wouldn't like this character or just find him whatever, but he's honestly really sweet and adorable, and I loved the expression work on both him and Amber!

Other Stuff:

My dad was away on vacation for two weeks so that was nice - I know it's terrible of me to say it, but I just feel so much more relaxed when he's not around (which is why I was able to get as much art done as I have, compared to usual). There wasn't much else to do aside from visit malls with my sisters, but that's all right. Honestly, I will never understand people who work because they think it's "better than staying at home all day", if you have the luxury to stay home and live without that pressure, even if there's not much else to do, I think that's great!

If you want the tl;dr of my thoughts on this graphic novel, it's simple: I LOVED IT! And I want moooore! :cries:

SPOILERS GALORE BELOW

  • I'm soooooo happy with all the dialogue and characterization, it is just spot on! I could perfectly hear the original voices of the characters saying these lines, this comic could literally be a new episode of the show and it would fit seamlessly! No 2020's slang or memes, no wokeness that wasn't there before, just pure Danny Phantom. The only few indications of the comic having been written in 2023 is the use of words like "selfie" and "goat", and those are already old enough now that they don't feel that blatant.

  • Needless to say I'm sooooo glad this story's main premise is on Dark Danny, the fact that that storyline never came back in the show was always a sore spot for me. And not only Dark Danny but Vlad AND Clockwork come back for major parts to play? This is like the most wish fulfilling fanfic ever, except it's CANON!

  • But yeah, love that Vlad got to come back, it's always funny when he has to work together with Danny, AND the fact that he gets a redemption of sorts at the end fixes one of the many things I disliked about the show's finale - it had always felt like this was a villain character that could have and should have gotten a second chance to do some good.

  • Ahahaha I had completely forgotten that Tucker was made mayor of Amity Park in Phantom Planet, and ngl it was a great move on the comic's part scrapping that idea immediately, that had always been pretty silly.

  • I wish we could've seen just a little bit more of Danny interacting with his parents now that they know his identity as a half ghost, but considering they weren't major characters in this plot (and considering how things end up) it kinda makes sense.

  • The important thing is that we still got lots of cute wholesome hugs between Danny and his friends. :')

  • Aaaaaah Dark Danny is so cool! The art style was really cute but the author also managed to make Phantom look just as dark and menacing as he was in the show.

  • The best and most disturbing joke was Danny seeing that Vlad still had a clone of him in stasis, ahahaha! And this actually comes back to play an important part in the plot later!

  • I'm glad Valerie got some moments to shine in this too, I never liked how her and Danny's whole thing was just kind of rushed and brushed aside in the show's finale. Now we can see, she still doesn't completely trust him!

  • If there's just one thing I fault this comic with, it's the whole glitching through different timelines thing to make filler action scenes. I felt like they ate up page time for nothing.

  • "I put you two in the ground before, I can do it again" HOLY FRICK THAT'S DARK, DANNY!

  • I really love the lore surrounding the ghosts that was added. Given that Butch Hartman has said the ghosts aren't actually deceased spirits of real people, the explanation given here actually makes the fact that we have ghosts like Poindexter, who was a living boy once, make sense without negating what he said. It also very simply explains why we have weird formless or creature-like ghosts, something I'd never even thought to wonder about.

  • I did think it was a little too easy for Danny to get his powers back after that explanation (and dang, as if he hasn't been compared to Spider-man enough XD), but I love what it did for Vlad's character arc.

  • I don't know how I'd never thought before about Dark Danny and Vlad interacting but WOW I needed to see that! God what a deliciously complicated relationship - Vlad literally adopted this version of Danny and made him who he was! And again, what a great way to develop Vlad's character making Dark Danny show him exactly what would result from him getting what he'd always wanted in making Danny his protegee!

  • Clockwork Dark Danny looked so cool~

  • "Why was I the one who lost everything?" God this part punched me in the gut. :cries:

  • Clockwork returning Danny and his friends back to the status quo of the show would usually annoy me, but I totally see that this is the author's way of undoing the results of Phantom Planet and leaving the story open to doing the ending over again - and I'm all for that! You know, if in fact we do get more comics after this.

  • Which it seems like we will because we kinda left Valerie on a cliffhanger there?

  • And Dark Danny is now a kid again and back with Vlad, heck yeah! Again, I need mooooore! Bring back Dani next!!

5 stars man, this is a continuation done right in every way!
